Understanding Freight: A Simple Guide

Not all of them will require freight shipping but whether it’s a large number of stanchions, barricades, or any other product where a freight shipment is necessary due to size and weight – we want to be sure you feel informed about the process.

Freight shipments normally involve a few more details than normal package deliveries. This guide will help you understand the whole process. Whether your delivery is coming to a commercial or a residential building – Todoos.com is happy to assist you!


Delivery Access and Lift Gate Services

Will You Need Lift Gate Services?

A Lift Gate Service becomes essential if you do NOT have a full loading dock facility and a forklift to unload the freight. All residential freight deliveries will include lift gate service. Lift gate services means that the truck driver will take care of the entire unloading process, right up until the product is placed on your premises. If you do not let us know that you DO NOT need Lift Gate Services, you will be receiving it. Most customers do need it with freight orders because they do not have a commercial height receiving docks and forklifts.

Freight Limited Access

Limited Access Delivery

When you live or work in an area where freight trucks are restricted from entering or normally do not travel, this would be considered a Limited Access Delivery. It’s possible for a location with a loading dock and forklift to be considered limited access – IF the area is protected or guarded, as is common with government institutions or they have narrow streets (urban areas), or need buzzed in.

Some examples of limited access locations are homes in gated communities, condos or apartments, schools, churches, construction sites, small event spaces, small businesses, restaurants, government buildings, airports, farms, hotels and motels, hospitals, small storage facilities, and other similar locations.

Freight Standard Access

Standard Freight Delivery

Standard Freight Delivery is only used if you have a commercial height receiving dock facility and a forklift. With this option, you’re responsible for unloading your freight using your own resources. There is no obligation on the truck driver to help you with the unloading without additional fees. Typically, large commercial businesses, industrial facilities, and warehouses qualify for Standard Freight Delivery.

Do You Need Scheduled Delivery or Advance Notice?

Todoos always does a schedule freight delivery and advance notice so that we can follow your order and you will know when to expect. How Quickly Do You Need This Freight?

If you need expedited delivery or have a specified delivery date, please inform our sales team as soon as possible, ideally when placing your order. With a little advance notice, we are more likely to be able to satisfy your needs. You can contact our sales team directly during EST business hours at (866) 855-1249 or email them from the Customer Service section.

Note that some products, such as customized products, may be limited for how soon they can ship. Typically, products ordered after 1:00 PM EST cannot be shipped the next day. In addition, an extra charge may apply for expedited delivery.

Inspect Tour Freight

It’s absolutely necessary to inspect the freight for damage and that you received your complete order once it arrives and before signing for it. Once the freight is signed for as in good condition and complete, Todoos.com can assume no responsibility or liability for damages or missing units that were potentially due to transit. Please be sure to carefully inspect the freight for damage and all of your items listed have arrived and sign for it upon its receipt.

In the unlikely event that you sign for freight as damaged, please contact our Product Pros at info@todoos.com or give us a call at (866) 855-1249. We will file a claim with our freight company and do everything we can to resolve any outstanding issues.

Be prepared to move and unpack your own freight after it is unloaded from the truck.  Even if you get Lift Gate Services, these services do not include relocating the product further than the point of unloading, nor do they include unpacking or assembly services.
